What consitutes inappropriate in art?

When it comes to art I don't think that the government should be able to tell you what you should or shouldn't be able to look at.

Down With Censorship

The discussion of Art censorship can be debated in many different ways and at times it can often be controversial. The disagreement of these discussions is the reason why it’s so important. Some advocates will argue that some censorship is important because they believe it has a negative effect on society’s moral standards and harm others. Others associate it to unjustified limitations on freedom.

What is art and what kind of art should be censored? When thinking of art we often refer to imagination, but the imagination is endless. Art can tell stories of all kinds, it can tease the mind, and it can start conversations and critical thinking. Throughout history censorship has continuously watch men and women. In Ancient Society censorship was used as an instrument to control the moral and political lives of the population. China was the first country to introduce the first censorship of law in 300 A.D. The history of censorship has been battling the government for freedom of expression since the beginning. Now government use censorship to maintain the legal framework dodging freedom of expression. Today the First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech and is believed to be the root of the comprehensive protection of freedom of expression.

“The free communication of thought and opinion is one of the most precious rights of man; every citizen may therefore speak, write and print freely.” French National Assembly in 1789

We believe that the government should not be allowed to censor art just because certain people find it offensive. Everyone in the nation has different opinions so why should we be limited to what we can and cant see. Each piece of artwork can either be described as beautiful, interesting or in some cases offensive. The problem with censorship is that if you put 100 people in to a room with a certain piece of artwork we can guarantee that at least 1 person is going to think that its offensive in some way. People should be allowed to view what they want in the way of art because even though other people find it offensive that one person finds it very beautiful or interesting. Also we think that if people do find certain pieces of artwork offensive or vulgar then they shouldnt look at it they are not forced to look so why are they so upset that certain people do.
